Growth by acquisition is something we advise clients on all the time. It is also how we have grown. Over recent years Greg Blackaby has brought together three Brisbane accounting firms into a single group.
Each firm came with its own clients, its own team and its own way of doing things. The goal was never to flatten that. It was to give every client access to a bigger team and a wider set of services without losing the accountant who knows them.
Three names, two offices, one standard. Whichever door you walk through, the same approach applies: compliance done properly, strategy first, and a team that is interested in where your business is going.

Why bring accounting firms together?
Small accounting firms are good at relationships and short on depth. One or two people cannot be across tax, structuring, SMSFs, valuations and Virtual CFO work all at once. Larger firms have the depth, but clients can feel like a file number.
A group of local firms under one roof sits in the middle. Clients keep a local contact. Behind that contact is a team that has seen restructures, acquisitions, exits and complex tax across a wide range of businesses.
It also makes the firms themselves more resilient. Cover for leave, shared systems and shared training all improve when there are more people in the room.
What joining under one roof means for clients
If you came to us through VKS Accounting or Veal & Prasad, your relationship continues. Your accountant, your records and your lodgement calendar stay where they are.

You do not have to use any of it. But if the business has grown past a tax-return relationship, the conversation is now a short one rather than a referral to a stranger.

What stays the same
Office locations, phone numbers and your day-to-day contact do not change because a firm joined the group. Lodgements already in progress carry on. Nobody has to re-explain their business from scratch.
We are also careful about systems. Where it makes sense to move a client onto shared software, that is done deliberately, with notice, and only where it clearly helps. Nobody wakes up to find their bookkeeping has moved overnight.
If anything about your service does change, you will hear it from your existing contact first, with the reason and the timing explained. No surprises is the rule.
Which office do I deal with?
Acquire Strategic Accounting is based at 7/222 Colburn Avenue, Victoria Point QLD 4165. VKS Accounting is at Jimboomba Junction Shopping Centre, 10b/671 Cusack Lane, Jimboomba QLD 4280. Clients of Veal & Prasad continue to deal with their existing contacts, with the full group behind them.
Location matters less than it used to. A large share of our clients are outside Brisbane and work with us by video. Pick whichever office is convenient, or neither.

Growing by acquisition, done properly
Every firm that joined the group went through the same process we run for clients buying a business: understand the numbers, understand the people, structure the deal sensibly and plan the handover before signing.
That experience shows up in our advisory work. When we talk to a client about buying a competitor or merging with a partner, we are drawing on deals we have done ourselves, not just deals we have read about.

It continues to operate under the VKS name with its existing clients and contacts, and the full Acquire Strategic Accounting service range is available through it.
Who are Veal & Prasad?
Veal & Prasad is one of the three accounting firms in the Acquire Strategic Accounting group. Its clients continue to deal with the people they know, with the wider team behind them for anything beyond day-to-day accounting and tax. If you are a Veal & Prasad client with a question about the group, your existing contact is the place to start.
Can I use services from the Victoria Point office if I am a Jimboomba client?
Yes. The firms operate as one group, so a Jimboomba client can have a structuring project, valuation or Virtual CFO engagement run with the Victoria Point team involved. Your Jimboomba contact stays your main point of contact. Meetings can be held at either office or by video, whichever is easiest for you.
Why did Acquire bring three firms together?
To give clients depth without losing the local relationship. A small firm cannot cover tax, structuring, SMSFs, valuations and advisory in depth at once. A group can, while still giving every client a contact who knows their business. It also reflects what we advise clients: growth by buying well is a real strategy, and we practise it ourselves.
